Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

From our girls to our board, “come as you are” is not just encouraged, it’s required. We value and honor the unique life experiences and perspectives each individual brings to the table — where you will always find a seat.

DEI and Girls First

DEI principles have been deeply rooted in the PEARLS’ vision to build a brighter, more equitable future for the past 30 years – and we know that it is one of our superpowers. To serve the girls in our community, we are guided by a “girls first” philosophy in order to ensure every perspective and every girl has a voice in our organization and within our community.

Our Values Drive Our Strategy

From the teams we build, our operations, to our programming, we not only include diverse perspectives, we empower and honor them.

Girls First

PEARLS For Teen Girls serves girls or anyone identifying as a girl in grades 5 through 12. We know that PEARLS girls represent a range of socioeconomic, racial, ethnic, religious/nonreligious backgrounds, and mental and physical abilities. Because we seek to reflect this diverse range of identities and abilities in our programming and policies, our staff, Board of Directors and auxiliary committees reflect this diversity.

Respect

We are in the business of relationship building and a foundation of that is respecting everyone and their vast life experiences. We believe in the inherent value each and every person on this planet holds just by existing and that alone merits our respect.

Sky High Integrity

At PEARLS, we don’t work to exceed expectations or go above and beyond for our teammates, partners or girls for a pat on the back — we do it because we believe it’s the right thing to do. DEI principles aren’t incorporated into our foundation because it’s the latest buzz acronym — we have been operating in this way because it has been and always will be the right thing to do for our girls and our community.
