PEARLS FOR TEEN GIRLS HOSTED VIOLENCE PREVENTION MARCH & RALLYTuesday, November 27, 2007 Event coordinated as a result of recent tragic shooting of “Pearl Girl” (Milwaukee, WI) PEARLS for Teen Girls Inc. will host a violence prevention march and rally this evening to raise awareness and provide inspiration to Milwaukee residents that have been impacted by violence. This event is being coordinated as a result of a tragic shooting of a PEARLS for Teen Girls participant, which occurred at the corner of 26th and Hadley. The teenager was hospitalized and is paralyzed from the incident. “We are deeply saddened by this random act of violence against one of our precious “Pearl Girls,” said Danae Davis, PEARLS for Teen Girls Executive Director. “As a community we must come together to provide support and guidance for youth and to help them understand that senseless violence is never an option.” Following is a schedule of events for the march and rally: Date: Tuesday, November 27th, 2007 North Division Multiplex Auditorium 6:15 to 6:35pm Guest Speaker Anne E. Schwartz from MPD 7:45 to 8:00pm Closing Established in 1992, PEARLS for Teen Girls, Inc. serves more than 500 girls within Milwaukee County neighborhoods at highest risk for violence, truancy, abuse, teen pregnancy and poverty. PEARLS for Teen Girls is committed to being the community’s signature program for maximizing girls’ self-development in the areas of personal responsibility, empathy, awareness, respect, leadership and support. |
